Have you met Utracrepidarian...

For ages, we heard, "Opinions combined with Ignorance is a Dangerous Combination", but then also in our personal or professional lives we come a cross numerous times such creatures, Who give Opinions on matters far beyond his or her knowledge. Especially it is not even knowledge, this is just some overheard information, a preconceived notion, or just their immature imagination! I am sure you too have pictures of them while reading it.

Why do people feel compelled to offer advice when they’re clearly not qualified to do so? I am again sure many of us have gone through this question number of times. But the creature called Ulracrepidarian is a self-proclaimed expert. They don't know Daniel Patrick Moynihan so, how will they know that he said “You are entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts.” And Nothing new that we’re surrounded by people who seem unable to differentiate between the two (own opinion Vs own facts).

Somehow came across reading the article - The Age of the Ultracrepidarian by Jake Wilder on this 2300 years ago invented noun and took the points from this article only to frame the thought over this concept which we all know but probably or definitely not aware of the appropriate word for such folks around us till date.

To be very honest this is a brave step that I took, cause if they read it they will surely decide to say bye-bye to my company. But I am okay. you know why it is more dangerous when this Ultracrepidarian indulges in something without knowing the facts but yet expresses or puts it in front, all with arrogance. isn't it the deadliest combination that one who is ignorant takes all rights of arrogance and yet that fellow remains isolated from all the repercussions'. ? Boss, you have to deal with such people in your environment and accept it it's a fact.

To be precise, We all have a responsibility for the information that we take in. But what information we take is not necessarily applicable to the situation that we have seen or experienced before. Information that we have must be validated first. If we don't do so and keep on doing verbal vomits, then surely we will be in the category of Utracrepiderians. Similarly to keep ourselves safe, increasing our standards for information takes away the ultracrepidarian’s power. It discounts their opinion unless they’ve done the work to validate it (let them do the drudgery). And anyhow while everyone may be entitled to their own opinion, we don’t have to sit there and listen to them preach it as fact.

Managing things become easier by ignoring such things, sometimes avoiding them too. What do you think? Are you interested in such Utracrepiderians? Or do you want to be one?
