Every year During Dushera I receive this or some messages. You might also !!
These are on the same lines like....
Dear Ravan.....Every year, on this day, we celebrate the victory of good over evil...But..technically....your behavior should be re-classified from "Evil" to "Slightly Naughty".
I agree you kidnapped a lady in haste... But.. after that...you gave her more respect we normally give to women in today's world.
You offered her good food...shelter...and even women security guards (not too good looking though).
Your request for marriage was full of humility...and you never threw acids when rejected.
Even when Lord Rama killed you.... you were wise enough to seek his apologies. And...I believe you were more educated than half of our Parliament.
Trust me dude...there aren’t any hard feelings to burn you... just that it's the in-Thing. !!
Please !! Stop this !! We need not require to do this.
Are you really interested in such things?
Anybody here, who was a part of that History or a story of Ramayana? Neither me !! But want to share something here...
Seems like I am super knowledgeable, but it is something for which one need not require to be so,
In the one hand, we show respect to the Rama and Sita. We take oath on the bonding and tyaga they had. Maryada they followed. And on the other hand, we are totally disrespecting the fact that how evil killed with the good.
We are seeing that people nowadays are in love with Ravana, At least the way they praise him...

Why to praise Ravana? Why you want to change the story?
He was a criminal with all evil intentions. While abducting Sita from her cottage cowardly in the absence of Rama and Lakshmana, he carried her away by placing her on his left lap. {as story says}
Ravana couldn’t attempt to rape her because he had got a curse in the past when he raped a celestial damsel. To save his own life he was not daring to touch Sita, it was nowhere near to the fact that because of any respect he could not touch her. He gave good food to Sita so that she can get impressed. The security guards were not for her safety but to keep eye on her so that she could not leave his green jail.
Anyways, whatsoever will be the fact... but my question remains the same.. Why you want to change the story? Why you want that the coming generations should call their ancestors, fools? that they believed the things which were false. And if so, then why not prove that first...Then share such respects.
Yes, Ravana was a Vidhvan. He was a scholar, a pandit {one story says, Rama after defeating Ravana, asked Lakshman to seek some knowledge from him} but he was not good by his thoughts, Intentions, and actions. The one who grabbed all dynasty from his stepbrother Kubera, The one who never accepted any good suggestion from anybody even his brother Vibhishan, The one let his children die just for his thirst to win, Was he good?
The acts he did were not good.
Why this is written in the scriptures? This may also be asked by the people who are applying logic... Sorry I have not read any... But the only thing I can put through my logic is, even if it is a story then this was passed to the generations to imbibe the fact that good always win. Evil nature and acts will have to face the defeat in the end. Even if you are very rich, scholarly person, you will not receive respect if you are not humble enough to deal with the rest of the part of the society. If you don’t know how to give respect then even after your exit from the world you will be treated as a symbol of negativity. You will be treated as a curse.

My small mind with no further logics lands upon such conclusion.
I am not a reader or not a scholarly person either but what I understand is, I cannot deny the fact that my grandparents told such stories to me, to imbibe something good. I cannot compare the era of Ravana with the current scenario but I can understand the line which heard since my childhood, “if Ravana’s pride couldn’t win, who are you or me”!!

Who do you know? why not to ask self ?
Thank you Sir !!
