Late
Mr. Dilip Gore, former employee of RBI – Died due to Esophagealvarices {disease
of blood vessel – he was of rare blood group} the gravity of the situation
prompted him to think about social blood bank. The Idea was shared by him with
his RBI colleagues namely Mr. AvinashSangwai, Mr. Vilas Deshpande, Ms.
ShobhaShembekar and Mrs. KalyaniDilip Gore, Mrs. Sandhya Vairagade. His Idea
sowed the seed of having a blood bank which will serve to the society and cater
there needs of blood at cost effective price.
The
team of these six self-motivated people took the survey in Nagpur regarding
requirement of blood and the supply from the available sources. To their
surprise it was found that there was no such Social blood bank.Supply of blood
was dismal to suffice the need of blood for the Hundreds of Thalassaemic,
sickle cell children and patients from Central India. These were in need of
continued safe and healthy blood but they were put to hardship due to paucity
of it.
In

hurdles were there but Massive awareness regarding blood donations helped to
reduce the fear of it and resulted to increase in voluntary blood donors. Today
this central India’s state of the art blood bank proved to be a boon for the
needy children andpatients of all sections of society.
